Bottle Free
We decided to take the bottle away (again). I thought it would be hard because she hated it when we tried it before. We decided to give it back because she got really sick and wouldn't drink anything (unless it came from a bottle). So we took the bottle away again this week. Now she seems to be doing great. She will drink from a sippy no problem. It is much easier this time. I wonder if a month really made that much of a difference. I also keep reminding her that she is going to get her "special" princess cup from grandma soon. She is growing up so fast! Hurray for no bottle!
Good News!
Scott just got word from the University of Utah that he does not have to take another math class before he starts the MBA program in the fall! We thought he would have to take college algebra again (he already got an A in the class while doing his undergrad) because he scored a little lower than what they wanted on the GMAT math portion. So this is good news! Instead of spending $$ and time this summer in a math class, he gets to spend it at home with us! Yahoo.. maybe he will get a few projects done.

Time...
So my question for the day is... why do we count time once it has happened?? For example... I am in my 27th year of life.. but I say I am 26? We have been married for 6 years, but are in the 7th year of marriage (isn't the 7th year bad?). You don't turn 1 until you have completed the first year. Scott was feeling depressed because he will be turning 30 this year, but I kindly explained that he is already in his 30 year of life, and soon he will begin his 31st year of life. I don't think it made him feel any better. :)

mOm
We went to the temple today with Scott's family because his cousin is going on a mission soon. While I was in one of the rooms I noticed some (used) tissues sitting in front of me. I sat there wondering how long they have been there, how many germs they probably had, and what I should do about it. A couple things went through my mind... being a germophobe I didn't want to pick them up.. but then an interesting thing happened. A picture of my mom came to my mind and I was asked 'what would your mom do'? Hmm... My mother would pick them up, stuff them in her pocket, and throw them away when she passes a garbage. But me? I wished I had a clean tissue to pick them up with (seriously they looked gross). I thought maybe I could pass them off to the matron and have her throw them away. This plan was sounding good to me. Regrettably, I am a person that likes to do nice things, but also likes to get recognition for it. This realization came to my head and I was asked again 'what would your mom do'? Again, my mom would pick them up, stuff them in her pocket, throw them away, and never seek for any kind of recognition. I sat there with tears in my eyes as I thought of my mom, and how I need to be more like her. She is a woman that "just does it". No questions, complaints, or recognition needed. She has always been able to do everything. I don't know if she has always been like this, but I cant remember a time when she wasn't amazing. While my sisters and I were young, my dad worked and went to school. He was very busy and wasn't around much. Scott will be starting school in August, and already I am complaining. As I sat today and contemplated who I am and who I want to be, I realized how much I miss my mom. We cant live by each other right now, and that is hard on me. I miss her influence in my life (I still get it, just not as much as I would like). Needless to say, I did pick up the tissue and throw it away. Not for recognition, but to be one step closer to being the person I admire... my mOm.

18 Month Check-up
Today Adelyn had her 18 month check-up. Here are her stats:
23 pounds 1 oz (31%)
32 inches (61%)
She can say over 70 words independently (I am going to stop counting now that she is 18 months), repeats everything, loves to go on walks, loves puzzles, and is a very independent girl. She will not let me feed her the first bite of food, she has to feed herself (to try it) and then decide for herself if she wants help. When she gets hurt, she often wants to hide and soothe herself. She typically likes to only sleep in her bed and does not like to cuddle much. Adelyn is very talkative and likes to get the attention of strangers. She is very independent and we love her. The best part about being 18 months?... Nursery!

60 words and counting..
Lately I have been counting Adelyns words... just so we kinda know where she is at. Well, we have counted over 60 words that she will say independently (without us telling her first), and she will repeat almost everything. Here is the list of her words so far (just as a journal): mama (of course), dada, nana, baby, snow, bye, water, milk, puzzle, book, shoes, pants, prayer, bottle, cracker, ball, eyes, head, nose, potty, poopy, bath, shower, chair, tree, blanket, coat, ears, socks, elmo, medicine, hair, no, up, down, done, hands, hot, cold, bear, Jesus, apple, garbage, please, more, hats, bed, box, two, three, candy, dog, stuck, lotion, uh-oh, owie, juice, towel, button, music, and stairs. She will put two words together and she understands a lot of commands. She picks up a new word every day it seems like. It is fun to watch her learn.

Sickies...
For most of the month of January we were sick (thus the lack of posts). I find it hard to get back on top of things once I have been down for a while. So sorry, I will get back to posting soon.... except now I cant find my thumb drive that puts the pictures on the computer... someone around this place has a fascination with throwing things in the garbage. So no new pictures until it is found, or a new one is bought. Urggg.
