End of Year Recap

All year long I have been keeping track of important (and good) things that have happened during the year. I keep a jar on the desk and can quickly write on slips of paper good things that are happening and store it in the jar. On New Years Eve we gather as a family to review all the slips of paper. The kids take turns reading each one, putting them in order (by date) and reminiscing about all the great things the year had brought to us. It is a great way to end the year and look forward to another.

Here is our list for 2017:
 -Jan 3: Adelyn graduated from OIT
-Jan 10: Olivia can tie her shoes all by herself
-Jan 17: Global Hawk shipped on time (Scott's work project)
-Feb 7: Sarah had a birthday (34th)
-Feb: We went to Disneyland and Universal Studios with the Moss family
-Feb: We drove from CA to AZ to see the Lindstrom's. We had fun with cousins. On the drive home we got to see the Hover Dam
-Mar: Scott got a raise at work
-Mar 4: Olivia turned 7! She had a friend party with 16 guests and a family dessert night
-Mar 28: Scott had a birthday! We celebrated with a family party and seeing Beauty and the Beast in the theater
-Apr 6: Pearce turned 3!
-May 10: Olivia broke her arm
-May 31: Adelyn graduted 4th grade, and Olivia graduated 1st grade
-June: Grandma GG came to visit (also cousins from Missouri)
-June 7: Adelyn made it on the EXTRA soccer team
-June 6-10: We spent the week in Park City with the Moss'. We got to do rides, hike, swim and have fun
-June 16-17: We went to the Manti Pageant with Nana and Poppi
-July: Sarah completed a half marathon in 1:58:08 (a PR!)
-July 12-15: Sarah got to go to Girl's Camp
-July 27: Adelyn and Olivia passed their swimming lessons
-July 29: Adelyn and Olivia got to be pioneers in the Morgan parade
-July 30: Adelyn sang "I know my Savior Loves Me" with friends in Sacrament meeting
-Aug: We went camping at Earthquake lake and went touring Yellowstone
-Aug 13: Adelyn turned 10 and had a painting party with friends
-Aug 21: We saw a solar eclipse!
-Aug 22: Olivia started 2nd grade, and Adelyn started 5th grade
-Oct: Went camping at Zions National Park
-Oct 27: Scott shipped out his project on time
-Nov: Adelyn got her tonsils and adenoids out
-Nov: Adelyn performed in Oklahoma (the school play)
-Nov: Scott got a bonus!
-Nov: Olivia lost a tooth at school
-Nov: Had Thanksgiving dinner with the Moss'
-Dec: Scott survived sinus surgery and can breath better
-Dec: Made candy canes with friends
-Dec: Pearce finally went to Joyschool and nursery without complaint (although it didn't last long)
-Dec: Went to Temple Square with Nana and Poppi. Donated to the Light the World
-Dec: Enjoyed Christmas break with swimming, movies (Coco), sledding, playing with friends, puzzles, games, legos and more
-Dec 23: Celebrated Christmas Eve-Eve with the extended Moss family
-Dec 24: Celebrated Christmas Eve with the Folk family
-Dec 25: Celebrated Christmas day with the Moss'

Hike to the Star

We hiked up the the Star on the mountain behind our house. It was a short but steep hike. This was the first time the kids and I had been up there. We thought it was a fun experience.

Sledding

This winter has been very mild (yay!) but that means there isn't very much snow for sledding. It was a little muddy, but we made the best of it.

Christmas Day

Santa came! He ate some of the cookies and milk left the kids left out for him. He also left a lot of fun presents! Pearce especially loved his bike and watch (from Olivia). Olivia loved her hatchimal and cash register. Adelyn loved her clothes, jewelry and telescope. They also got season passes to Cherry Hill for the summer. We had a great time together! Later that afternoon we went over to the Moss' to celebrate over dinner and more gifts.

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve at the Folk's. Delicious food, lovely singing by the girl cousins (dressed as angels), bells (instead of chimes this year), and gift exchange. It started to snow that night too. So beautiful!

Moss Christmas Party

We had a fun night at the Moss Christmas Party. We acted out a live nativity, Adelyn sang a solo, played nerf gun wars, ate great mexican food, and had a white elephant gift exchange. Unfortunately, Olivia had a bad cold, ear infection and pink eye, so she spent some of the night at the instacare.

Santa

He fought it at first, but gave in when we was bribed with candy. Haha.

Gingerbread Houses

We decorated gingerbread houses. It is always a good time.

Temple Square

We got to go to temple square with Nana, Poppi and cousins. It was fun donating, seeing the lights, and hanging out together. We love having family nearby.
