Today was Addie's first day playing in the backyard make-shift pool. We put out a tarp, rounded the edges, filled it with (cold) water, put Addie in a over sized swimsuit (the only one we have- 2T), and let her play! We didn't have swimming diapers, which I would not suggest for swimming as they make a HUGE mess. She had a great time, and what I loved about it: 1/2 hour of playing in the water equals 2.5 hour nap!! Plus I get a little much needed sun. I guess we should get a kiddie pool soon.

Uh-oh's
Addie started saying "uh-oh" today. It is quite hilarious. Previously she would just say "uh", but now she has completed it with the "oh", or more like "ah". We still thing "uh-ah" is pretty cute, even though she says "uh-ah" to everything.

New Stats
Adelyn had her 10 month check up today. She is 18 pounds 12 ounces (32%), and 28.5 inches (57%). Everything looks normal (except for her broken leg). She was developing a really nasty blister on the back of her heal where the cast was rubbing, so we had to go get another cast fitted to her leg. It has made a big difference already, she was so miserable with the other cast. The top two front teeth have broken through, and the next top and bottom front teeth (lateral incisors) are coming through. Soon she will have a mouth full of teeth. I will post a picture as soon as I can get her to open wide for the camera. The doctor said we could start giving her dairy products that are processed to see if she reacts to them. I gave her some cheese today and she loved it. No hives yet. Hopefully the milk allergy is something she will grow out of by the time she is 1, and have no other allergies. Keep your fingers crossed.

Wild Hair
After a bath, Adelyn rolled on the floor and this is what her hair looked like:
It's hard to tell but her hair looks like a wave (hmm... or maybe Elvis). She always makes us laugh.

Broken Leg
Yesterday, Adelyn was walking along the cupboards in the kitchen when she fell (walking on the floor, not on the counter- we had to clear that up so we dont get in trouble with the child protective services) . She tried to lean on an open cupboard, which gave way, and Adelyn twisted her leg during the fall. Needless to say, she now has a fractured right leg. We spent the day trying to get a hold of doctors (who apparently take fridays off) and figure out what exactly was wrong. Addie is now a proud owner of a half-cast (one we can take off for bath- yea!). She should heal in 3-4 weeks, much faster than an adult. She has been a trouper through the whole thing, hardly crying and even forgetting that her leg is broken (she kept trying to stand up- ouch!). Scott gave Addie her first sucker. It was like turning on a faucet... she was drooling so much! Yum!

Cowgirl
Adelyn needed shoes... yes, her pitiful parents hardly ever buy her anything (that's what grandparents are for)... so we went to the used baby store and found these rock'n cowgirl boots. I had to get them because I knew it would make grandma Folk proud (and they look brand new). The boots are a little bit big... but hopefully she wont out grow them by winter.
She loves to give her bear kisses...

And push the doll in her swing. Yes, she is still wearing her pajamas (she doesn't change into real clothes until after her morning nap).

Ah.. the sweet taste of disinfectant
My neighbors are smokers. Yesterday, when I went out to the backyard, there was our neighbor, smoking away on her deck. After a moment of small talk (and the cigarette was used) she informed me that she had something for the baby. She emerged from her house with a dusty (but new) beach ball and a nightlight. She started to blow up the beach ball, but needless to say, she couldn’t put forth the effort with her smoky-filled lungs. She hands me the ball and explains that she doesn’t have the lung power and tells me to continue to blow up the beach ball. Um… Im thinking to myself, “Im gonna die from second hand smoke!!” I didn’t want to be rude, so I (very carefully) blew up the rest of the ball. I didn’t blow it up all the way for fear of the ball getting too full and pushing all that air back into my mouth. The whole time I told myself to not inhale, seriously, I don’t want to die a premature death! Hehe. Anyways, I told Scott the story and all he could say was how I kissed the neighbor, and comments on the disgusting air inside the ball every time he walks by. So, I couldn’t take it any longer, I let out all the air (in a wide open area) and disinfected the beach ball with Clorox wipes. After a careful cleaning, I blew the ball up again. This time it tasted like disinfectant, but I didn’t seem to mind.
