Temple Square

We had promised the girls a trip to the zoo, but upon arrival it was packed full (apparently it was free Military day). So we decided to head to temple square instead. We took a short walk around the temple and headed over to the conference center and took a short tour of the roof. If you haven't had a chance to go on top of the conference center, we would recommend it. It was beautiful and much larger than anticipated.

Verlin Clark Stephens

Verlin is Scott's grandfather. Sadly, he passed away this week. His funeral services were held today. It was nice to see extended family we don't get to see very often, listen to all the great stories about grandpa, and celebrate his return home to his Heavenly Father. I was amazed and inspired by all the wonderful things said about Verlin. He will be greatly missed.

(Below: some of the attendees, the casket bearers, military honors, presenting grandma with the folded flag, Adelyn cuddling with grandma Stephens, Adelyn in her favorite grandma g.g. dress)

Graduation

Even though Scott will not actually be done with his PMBA program until August, he was able to walk at the Spring Graduation. It was a fun experience to watch him walk, receive his {empty} diploma, and be a part of the festivities. Here is the video of him walking (just in case you wanted to experience graduation too):

The real party will be in August! He is almost there!

Ward Talent Show

For the ward talent show, the Sunbeam B class (Adelyn's class) sang Popcorn Popping. Adelyn loved it. Here is the video. We were not sitting as close as we should have been, but if you listen carefully you can hear her yelling (at the beginning and end of the song.)

Easter Brunch

The Saturday before Easter, we were invited to brunch at Aunt Cathy's. It included yummy food, good company, and a fun Easter egg hunt. Some of the eggs had a surprise in them: money! Adelyn made out well, acquiring five dollars. It is always fun partying with the extended family.

Easter Egg Hunt

A few days before Easter, a few of us in the neighborhood got together for a quick Easter egg hunt. Each child brings ten filled eggs, and leaves with ten new eggs. The kids love it, even if the eggs are not really hidden. And I have to admit that the adults love any excuse to get together.

Silly Goose

Adelyn (while in the car): "Red means stop, green means go"
Aunt Alyssa: "What does yellow mean?"
Adelyn: "Slow down or get out of the way!"

Adelyn: "Mom, somebody loves you"
Sarah: "Really? Who?"
Adelyn: "Me!"

Like most young girls, Adelyn is obsessed with Cinderella. She pretends to dance around the house, frequently calls me "step-mother", and loves to go around the house dusting.

During a family home evening lesson about commandments and things we should do, we asked if Adelyn if she had any examples. She stated: "don't let trees fall on us". I guess that is important too.

I find it humorous that Adelyn refers to most jobs as a "she" job. "She needs to mow her lawn", "She needs to kill the weeds", "She needs to take out the trash". It will be nice when Scott is around to do some of these jobs.

End of year recap

January 6th the girls did a great job on their piano recital. January 7th Olivia did French Club. January 11th Olivia had her first basketba...
